About the Museum
The Stable Block is home to working horses and the Trust's internationally important collection of more than 50 horse-drawn carriages, from the grand state chariot to sombre hearse. If this whets your appetite for the elegant transport of the past, you can enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride around the grounds. Back down to earth, you will find 12 hectares (30 acres) of informal pleasure grounds, including a formal Victorian garden, to explore, picnic or play in. The recently restored walled kitchen garden provides flowers for the house and produce for the tea-room.
